Kidepo Valley National Park is an almost forgotten gem laying in the furthest corner of the Karamoja region. The Park is seldom visited by tourists for the reason that it’s remotely positioned, and the road conditions do not help the situation. With this in mind, we contemplate flying as the best solution. This also aids in maximizing one’s time in the park.

Itinerary

DAY 1 | FLY TO KIDEPO VALLEY NP | MEAL PLAN: HB

The earliest available flight to Kidepo Valley is in the afternoon. Upon arrival, you will be met by a guide who will take you to your lodge to check in. If feeling quite relaxed, have a game drive as you get acquainted with the park.

Dinner and overnight at a comfortable lodge.

DAY 2 | GAME DRIVE & COMMUNITY VISIT | MEAL PLAN: HB

This day will be dedicated to massive game drives in the Narus Valley. A typical game drive rewards it’s participants with stunning scenery and unmatched wildlife. Granted you will see lions, ostriches, buffalo herds, elephants, Jackson hartebeests, bush duikers, Defassa waterbucks, patas monkey, olive baboons, zebras and cheetahs though these may be hard to spot. Different bird species will also be seen since the park boasts of 475 species. These include the black breasted barbet and Karamoja Apalis. For a break, we will stop by the Idi Amin’s never-completed lodge from whence the views of the park are unrivaled.

Dinner and overnight at lodge.

DAY 3 | DEPARTURE | MEAL PLAN: BB

On this last day, we will drive to a local Karamojong community to see the manyattas – the local homesteads and get a feel of their daily life. Thereafter, drive to the airstrip to fly to Entebbe where the safari will end.
