DAY 1 | TRANSFER TO KASESE | MEAL PLAN: HB
At 7; 00 am our representative will pick you up from your hotel of stay in Entebbe or Kampala. You will drive to south west Uganda, at the Uganda-Congo border where lies the Majestic Rwenzori Mt whose upper zones are forever snowcapped and glaciated. This makes Uganda the only East African country to have snow all year round.
Tonight you will overnight in Kyaninki Trekkers hostel, located 1,450m above sea-level.
DAY 2 | HIKE TO SINE HUT (2,596m) | MEAL PLAN: FB
In the morning start to hike to Sine Hut, adding to elevation to 2,596 meters, being a height gain of 1,146 meters. You will sleep in a forest hut located between trees on a narrow ridge where you may sit and enjoy the beautiful views and sounds of various rapids crashing against rocks.
DAY 3 | HIKE TO SAMALIRA CAMP (3,515m) | MEAL PLAN: FB
From Sine Camp we start an upward climb through bamboo forests which is quite steep but very striking and stirring. As you climb, are small patches of mixed forest trees many of which bear fruits, berries and also attract different types of birds. You will hear the calls of the Rwenzori Turaco bird which has bright red or crimson wings and a magnificent sight as they fly between trees.
You will keep climbing up to a beautiful mossy ridge before turning off to 3,515 m where you descend a little down a magnificent moss covered ridge to Samalira Camp nestled in a small dip in the landscape but with fantastic views.
DAY 4 | DESCEND & TRANSFER TO QUEEN ELIZABETH NP| MEAL PLAN: HB
On this day, you will start to descend through a section of bamboo forests and back into the Afro Montane Forest Zone beaming up birds and primates. Upon descent, you will set off for Queen Elizabeth Park blessed with an assortment of crater lakes, wildlife, forest gorges and savannah plains.
Depending on the time of arrival, have a game drive to get acquainted with the park.
This day ends with dinner and overnight at a comfortable lodge.
DAY 5 | TRANSFER TO BWINDI NP | MEAL PLAN: HB
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a habitant for over half of the worlds endangered mountain gorillas. The park comprises of mist-covered hillsides blanketed by one of Uganda's oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests.
Dinner and Overnight at a comfortable lodge.
DAY 6 | GORILLA TREKKING | MEAL PLAN: HB
Today we take a walk through this gigantic rain forest in search for the mountain gorillas. The gorilla trekking is preceded by a briefing usually at 7; 30 am and by 8; 30 am the trek begins. Once the gorillas have been found, you are allowed only one hour with them and after trek back to the starting point.
Tips; clients need to be in reasonably good shape for the walk.
DAY 7 | DEPARTURE | MEAL PLAN: BB
After breakfast, the last leg leads us to Entebbe having a stop to look at the Equator. The rest of the drive will take you to Entebbe International Airport for your flight to your next destination.
