Murchison Falls, which was initially named Kabalega Falls, a name stemming from the famous Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, is one of the best places to see in Uganda. It is the world’s most powerful falls and lies in the north-western part of Uganda surrounded by abundant wildlife.

As the Nile River makes its way from its source in Jinja (The adrenaline city), it carries its waters to this awe-inspiring spot. You can opt to have picnic drive to the top of the falls, from whence the real action takes place. Or Hike from a boat down at the bottom of the falls. The hike is relatively easy but the ground is deceptive therefore being in good shape and having proper hiking boots are a must.

Boat safaris offer travellers a completely different style of experience. Hop onto a boat and tour the Victoria Nile River. Explore the beauty and scenery around you from a deck. Snacks and drinks may be served if requested, prior. Spotting hippos, crocodiles, and vast wildlife by the river bank is always a bonus. The boat ends at the bottom of the falls, where a U-turn will be made and back to dock.

The record largest Nile Perch was 113 Kgs landed at the water gauge opposite the crocodile pool, and the largest cat-fish was 45 Kgs landed near the Nyamusika Cliffs

Birding

Private birding trips can be done while on a game drive or the launch trips and both offer an opportunity for one to come across distinct birdlife, including savannah forest birds, water birds and Albertine Rift endemics. Therefore, while on these activities, you can hit two birds with one stone.
