Itinerary

DAY 1 | TRANSFER TO BWINDI NP VIA KIGALI | MEAL PLAN: FB

In the morning we will drive to Volcanoes NP, located north bordering Uganda and Congo. A brief will be done by the drive/guide for the tour before you leave the hotel in Kigali.

The road conditions in Rwanda are quite impressive; therefore you get to enjoy a comfortable 3 hour drive, with magnificent views of endless green hills, along the way.
We shall check in at lodge in time for lunch. Then rest in the afternoon as we wait the next days Gorilla tracking.

DAY 2 |GORILLA TREKKING | MEAL PLAN: FB

On our second day, we will take part in gorilla tracking which is a premier activity. Gorilla treks take place and usually depart from the park headquarters at 7:00 am in the morning. The norm of this activity is that you will get pre-brief, assigned armed rangers and also divided into small groups while at the headquarters.

The trek starts and shortly we will find ourselves deep into the misty forest. Once the gorillas are in view, we are allowed only one hour with them. Thereafter, we will trek back to the starting point.

This day ends with dinner and overnight at lodge.

DAY 3 | GOLDEN MONKEY TREKKING | MEAL PLAN: FB

On our third day, we will go back into the forest in search of the golden monkeys, which is another highlight in Volcanoes NP. The Golden Monkey, which is also listed as endangered is a local subspecies of the widespread Blue Monkey and is endemic to the high altitude forests of the Virunga Massif.

This day ends with dinner and overnight at lodge.

DAY 4 | DIANE FOSSEY & DEPARTURE | MEAL PLAN: BB

The profound knowledge we now have, or most of it was made possible by the iconic woman that is Diane Fossey. A hike to her grave is great tribute to her work of protecting the endangered mountain gorillas.

Fossey is buried next to her deceased gorilla friends, in Karisoke. It is believed that she herself constructed the site and lays next to Digit, her favorite gorilla friend.

We will then drive to Kigali Airport
